Dick Billows PMP, has more than 20 years experience as a project and program manager both as a partner with an international consulting firm and as an executive with a Fortune 200 company. Over the last 12 years, Dick has consulted with and trained project & program managers for over 300 organizations. He is the author of 14 books and hundreds of articles on project and program management. Dick is president of 4PM.com and directs the firm's consulting, in-person seminars and web-based 1-on-1 training programs.
Dick began his career in project management began with an international consulting firm where he successfully managed performance improvement, cost reduction and system development projects for clients across the United States and overseas for 12 years. Dick was then promoted to partner in Grant Thornton International (the fifth largest accounting and consulting firm in the world) and later assumed responsibility for the entire portfolio of client projects in the Western United States. Dick was then recruited by a Fortune 100 company to manage a 14 state region with responsibility for a portfolio of new product and regional expansion projects which led to 30% annual growth rate. In 1986, Dick formed 4PM.com to provide project management training and consulting for PMs and clients around the world.
Dick applies his experience implementing achievement-focused project methodologies for clients, which includes training for project managers and consulting with project sponsors and executives. His Achievement-driven Project Management (AdPM™) approach eliminates much of the needless paperwork and meetings seen so often in today project management. Instead, he brings a focus on achieving measurable business outcomes and on giving executives strategic control of their project portfolios.
Dick has written 11 books on project management as well as hundreds of articles on the subject of making project management more effective for project managers and their organizations. He directs the project mentors at 4PM.com and the delivery of one-on-one project management training over the Internet as well as in-person seminars for corporate clients. Dick also directs the project consulting practice at 4PM.com helping organizations manage strategic projects and implement 4PM’s Achievement-driven Project Management (AdPM™) methodology in their organizations.
He holds an undergraduate degree in economics and statistics from Johns Hopkins University, an MBA from the University of Colorado and has done doctoral work in organizational behavior at CU.
